Gothic clothing can be worn year around. They are also great for any party or gathering. One of the best things about Gothic clothing is the mystery behind them. For women this kind of clothing can be sexy, secretive, dark and alluring. For men this kind of clothing is challenging, elegant, dark and a bit different.

Let’s take for instance the classic yet, dangerous look to the left. It has that come hider look to it, yet also has a dangerous side. To the person who wears this outfit their is more to her than meets the eye.

This is something that be worn not only at a party. For those goths that are brave enough, this outfit can be worn as daily wear. Gothic costumes have a flair that is not found in any other style of clothing. Goth fairs and gatherings are a good place to find someone wearing something like this.

This kind of Gothic garments derived from the Victorian style period and worked its way back into modern society through  the early 1960′s TV era and Gothic rock scene. The clothing and style became a modern fashion, leading to the birth of a new era in Gothic costumes, clothing and accessories. Women were the first to adopt the fashion. Later men found the fashion to their liking.

It was not until the 1960′s when television series such as “The Munsters” and “The Adams Family” gave power to the Goth fashions. It was common to turn on the TV and watch Eddie Munster sport his dark, elegant attire. The Adam’s family took things a bit further with Wednesday attire. She was further celebrated for her look and personality in the modern day movie “The Adam’s Family”.

Gothic Clothing 70′s – 80′s

In the 1970′s and 1980′s rockers started to embrace the Goth look. Rockers like  Siouxsie and the Banshees drove the modern day Goth movement. This group was an influence for girls all over the world.

Often times Goths are mistaken for Vampires or the Vampire life. Yet they are two very different things. It is in fashion where the two sub cultures are brought together in perfect harmony. As seen on this website, both types of clothing carry the same characteristics of a dark, elegant appearance. Both have that mystic of romance, power and subtle sexuality. They attract attention, stares and curiosity. People who stare wish to know them or be like them and others are just curious at why Goths dress the way they do. It is a fashion that takes us back to a simpler time in history.

The most current look and fashions are not as predominate in today’s movies and television shows, yet music groups are still setting the tone for makeup, clothing and music. The next generation of Goth can be seen in many of today’s music groups such as “Blood on the Dance Floor” and  ”Black Veil Brides“. There music and look is powering a the new generation of Goth.
